STATE OF THE UNION

Featured Paintings

This series of paintings began as a result of my anger when a neighbor across the street---in this rural neighborhood of natural space and trees---erected a high, stark white plastic fence that looked like a moving van was perpetually parked in front.    I realized that this fencing off was becoming epidemic in this community and represented a state of mind prevalent throughout the nation.

In this creative process I discovered that anger is energy---it just needs to be directed in a constructive direction.   The paintings speak for themselves but they are, as the title suggests, my take on, and frustration about, the hostile political and economic climate in which we are living.

We have walled ourselves off from one another and loose ourselves in every kind of distraction.
